Email on 6/6 for staff aged 14-17 (working papers process)

Dear Tzevet

According to our records, you have not submitted working papers for the summer.  This is a State required form and it was due on May 1st.

As it turns out, the process for submission of working papers has changed as of June 1st.  No longer is it necessary to go to the doctor and your school to sign off on it.

Instead, you need to follow all these instructions (it looks like a lot of steps but it’s very quick):

Step 1: Staff Member Clicks on the following link: https://njlwdwfd.my.site.com/njyoungworkers/s/
Step 2: Create an account with an email that you have access to
Step 3: Check your email to create a password for your account
Step 4: Log back into the Department of Labor Website with your username (the email you just used) and password (the password you just created)
Step 5: Click “Apply for Working Papers” on the bottom right
Step 6: Enter your personal details including Social Security Number
Step 7: Enter details of parent or caregiver who will be able to check their email to verify your information
Step 8: Search “Moshava Ba’ir” in employment information or enter our 8 digit code (00005136)
Step 9 Once Moshava Ba’ir has approved your application, your parent or caregiver will be notified to verify your information. Verification includes uploading a picture of proof of your age (birth certificate, passport, drivers license…)
Step 10 You’re done!

Hi tzevet,

I hope everyone had a great Shavuot, and is getting excited as camp gets closer!

Leading up to our shavua gibbush (pre-camp orientation), there will be 2 mandatory additional training items:

1) We are having a mandatory abuse and boundaries training session. This session is legally required by the state, and this year it will be led by our very own senior tzevet member Chana Shefa, along with Project SARAH. This is a very important session, attendance will be taken. There will be two options for times:
6/11 @9:30am (eastern time)- click here for zoom link
6/14 @8pm (eastern time)- click here for zoom link

2) Stay on the lookout for a series of videos to watch with important camp info- coming soon!

Again, if you haven’t filled out your forms please do so ASAP. As always, feel free to be in touch with me for any questions or comments.

All the best,
Leora Orenshein

Good Morning

I hope everyone is doing well today!

As we did receive a few questions, I wanted to clarify something on your staff contract.

As your staff contracts indicate, all staff members who are working during the first month, end their employment on Monday, July 24th.  This has always been the case for a few reasons:

  • July 24th is a very important transition day in camp.  We look to our first month staff to help “show the ropes” to new staff.  Transitions are hard for children so we staff ourselves in a way that facilitates a smooth process. (this is the primary reason)
  • there are a few second month staff members who are coming from sleepaway camp and can’t join us on the first day of the second half (as an aside, salaries are prorated for missed days)
  • there are 2 days off during the first month (june 26 (since we start on a Tuesday) and July 4th) and we want to be more equitable

If there is a reason why you won’t be available to work on July 24th, such as early departure to sleepaway camp, please reply to this message and let me know (we will pro-rate your salary accordingly since you are expected to join us).

Furthermore, we have a list of staff who have told us that they won’t return from camp (or israel), in time to start working on July 24th.  If you are a second month tzevet member and your name is not on the list below (but you are unable to start on the 24th), please reply to this message and let me know.  We want to make sure that we have accurate information in our system for the benefit of our campers and overall tzevet team.

Have a wonderful day
Leora

Dear High School Tzevet

Our Tzevet lineup is really coming together and we could not be more pleased with the caliber of our talented staff.  We already have 60+ (Anglo) HS teens coming from Israel in addition to 150+ HS teens from across the tri-state area.  We are going to have an incredibly fun summer together!  Stay tuned for updates.

We are looking for more lifeguards to join the team (primarily male lifeguards during the first half and female lifeguards during the second half of the summer).  If you are interested in extending your dates and/or you are open to becoming a lifeguard, please reply to this message (or text me at 0534449886) and let me know.  Please note that interest does not guarantee a spot on the matzil squad.  See attached flyer to review some of the perks of the role.

In addition, we continue to pay out recruitment bonuses for tzevet who find Current HS and College aged staff to join us.  While we are continuing with these bonuses for counselors, we are doubling the bonus for lifeguard recruitment to $100 for a full summer (following the interview, acceptance and signature on the staff contract)

Spread the word to your friends and family!  Remember-it’s not too late to become certified and we could cover the cost (up to $400 for full summer staff).

Wishing everyone a great day
Ben

With camp less than two months away(!), we would like to get a sense of how each of you plan to go to and from camp each day. Please read the following carefully, as some details may have changed from past summers.

Staff tefillah will take place each morning at 7:50 (M,Th, Rosh Chodesh) or 8:00 (T,W,F). Staff members who are able to make it to tefillah are encouraged to attend. Other staff members who live locally may receive spots on camper vehicles if possible. Staff members from outside Bergen County will be provided with spots on camper vehicles, unless you choose to drive yourself. Those going in carpools or driving themselves are expected to remain in camp until carpool ends (approximately. 4:10pm).

There may be a significant number of staff members who would like to attend staff tefillah but can’t get rides in the morning. If so, we will consider arranging for transportation, but this is not guaranteed.

Please click here for the form to let us know your transportation plans for the summer. Transportation information for the first two weeks should be available by June 8th, and those starting camp later will receive information as it becomes available.

Looking forward to an amazing summer,
Yair Daar

Dear Tzevet

I’m looking forward to working with you in the summer! I just wanted to introduce myself, and then I’ll give you a few important details and dates for camp.

My name is Leora and I will be your Rosh Mosh this summer! This is my third summer at Moshava Ba’ir and I was sports staff and chinuch staff in my past summers. I grew up in sleepaway camp for many years and very passionate about camp! I went to Frisch, MTVA, Stern College, and am currently finishing a master’s program in Gemara and Halacha (GPATS). I will be your point person with any questions leading up to the summer- I am excited to work with everyone in camp, and definitely be in touch with anything!

Now, a few very important notes:
– Pre-Camp Training: There will be select virtual staff training sessions (mandatory) before orientation. In addition, MIT’s stay tuned for details for a pre-camp meeting in June. I will be in touch soon with dates and times!

– Orientation: As you know, every summer we have a shavua gibush before camp starts. The following will be our shavua gibbush dates:  Wednesday June 21st- Monday June 26th. I will be in touch with exact times and schedule in the near future. Note that all staff orientation is mandatory for all staff. If you have extenuating circumstances, be in touch with me.

– Referral Bonus: We are offering up to $50 bonuses for staff recruitment- so if you have any friends to recruit to Moshava Ba’ir, let them know!

Staff Transportation: I know that many people need staff transportation for the summer. Keep an eye out for an email from Sgan Yair Daar for more info on staff transportation.

– Forms: As I’m sure you’ve heard many times, if you have not yet filled out your forms, please do so asap! https://akiva.campintouch.com/v2/login/login.aspx

Leading up to (and of course during!) the summer, feel free to reach out to me with any questions!

Looking forward! Can’t wait for an amazing summer with everyone!
